Faridabad Demolition Drive: Illegal Banquet Halls Bulldozed, Traffic Advisory Issued for Major Action 2026
Faridabad authorities are preparing for major demolition drives at several locations on Saturday. In view of the planned action, the police have heightened security arrangements and issued a traffic advisory. However, police and municipal officials have not disclosed the exact areas where the demolitions will take place.
On Friday, the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad demolished two illegally constructed banquet halls in Sector 11. According to municipal officials, the banquet halls were being built without the required approvals. Notices had previously been served to the operators, instructing them to halt construction. Despite the warnings, construction work continued, prompting the Enforcement Branch to take action.
The demolition team used JCB machines and other heavy equipment to tear down significant portions of the structures. Action was also taken against Sajan Vatika Banquet Hall in the same area for unauthorized construction and violations of building regulations. Municipal officials, accompanied by police personnel, arrived at the site early in the morning to carry out the operation.
Emotional Woman’s Video Goes Viral During Demolition
During the demolition drive, some residents attempted to protest, but the situation remained under control due to the strong police presence. A video of an emotional woman pleading with municipal officials to stop the demolition has gone viral on social media. The woman was seen crying and saying that her brother had built the house through years of hard work.
Meanwhile, the municipal corporation also carried out action against an illegally constructed building in Sector 37.
Traffic Advisory Issued
Considering the demolition drive and law-and-order deployment, Faridabad Traffic Police issued a special traffic advisory. According to the advisory, several major roads will remain closed from 2:00 AM on May 29 until 2:00 PM on May 30.
The route from Metro Mor through ESI Chowk and Masjid Chowk up to the Sainik Colony traffic signal will remain temporarily closed.
Alternative Routes Suggested
As per the traffic advisory, heavy and regular vehicles traveling towards Gurugram will be diverted through Badkhal, Ankhir Chowk, MVN Chowk, and Pali Road until Saturday afternoon.
For light vehicles, the alternative route will pass through BK Chowk, 4-5 Chowk, Patel Chowk, Badkhal Village Road, and Sainik Colony before connecting to the Gurugram–Faridabad Road.
Authorities have urged commuters to follow the advisory and use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience during the ongoing demolition operations.
