Abhijeet Deep
ke, founder of the satirical social media campaign Cockroach Janata Party, has announced that he will return to India on June 6 and hold a peaceful protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of the Education Minister.
Deepke is currently in the United States, where he recently completed his graduation from Boston University.
The social media campaign Cockroach Janata Party began after remarks made by Justice Surya Kant regarding young people and cockroaches. The campaign's founder, Abhijeet Deepke, is from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and previously worked with the communication team of Aam Aadmi Party.
Deepke said:
"I am returning to my country and my home, India, to demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. For a long time, we have been raising our voice on social media, saying that the minister should resign because of the NEET paper leak, which allegedly led to the loss of lives of some students and wasted the hard work of millions of others."
He added:
"Eight lakh students have signed our petition, and millions of people have supported this demand on social media. Protests have also been held in cities including Delhi, Lucknow, and Jaipur, but it still does not seem to have made any difference."
Deepke further stated:
"There are over one crore students affected by various examination-related issues — 22 lakh NEET students, 17 lakh CBSE students, 16 lakh CUET students, and 40 lakh SSC GD candidates. The system has played with their futures, leaving students worried about their careers. Someone must take responsibility for this."
