FIFA World Cup 2026 Trophy: Weight, Gold Content, and Design

The FIFA World Cup trophy is one of the most recognizable awards in sports. According to FIFA, the current trophy weighs 6.175 kilograms and is crafted from 18-carat solid gold. It contains approximately 5.09 kilograms of gold, making it one of the most valuable trophies in international sport.

The base of the trophy is decorated with a green malachite stone, adding to its distinctive appearance. After every FIFA World Cup, the name of the winning nation is engraved on the trophy's base. When the engraving plate becomes full, it is carefully preserved and replaced with a new one.

Does the Winning Team Keep the Original Trophy?

No. Although the champions lift the original FIFA World Cup trophy during the award ceremony and official celebrations, it is later returned to FIFA.

The winning nation receives an official replica, while the original trophy remains under FIFA's protection. Only the FIFA President, a Head of State, and members of the World Cup-winning team are allowed to handle the original trophy without gloves.

The current FIFA World Cup trophy was first introduced at the 1974 FIFA World Cup and has been used ever since.

Trump Calls Off Iran Strike, Claims Peace Deal Days Away — Iran Pushes Back

President Trump abruptly called off a planned military strike against Iran — just hours after threatening to hit the country "very hard" and seize control of its oil industry. In a dramatic reversal, Trump claimed that a landmark peace deal with Iran could be finalized within days. According to Trump, the proposed agreement would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and pave the way for nuclear weapons talks in the coming days. "I think it's ultimately great for Iran, because they'll be able to build up their country," Trump said, expressing optimism about what he called a near-complete breakthrough. However, Iran's Foreign Ministry quickly pushed back, stating that Iran has not yet reached any final conclusion — casting serious doubt on Trump's confident claims. Despite the uncertainty, Trump appeared triumphant at multiple tele-rallies on Thursday, repeatedly declaring that "the war is over." He added that a formal signing ceremony could take plac...

While the US and Iran Talked Peace in Pakistan, One Netanyahu Call Changed Everything Sometimes, global politics doesn’t change because of wars, elections, or long negotiations. Sometimes… it changes because of a single phone call. And that’s exactly what seems to have happened during the recent US-Iran peace talks. At a moment when the world was hoping for de-escalation, diplomacy collapsed—and tensions are now rising again. Chapter 1: A Rare Moment of Hope For weeks, the Middle East had been on edge. Military activity, rising tensions, and fears of a wider conflict had created an atmosphere of uncertainty across the globe. Then came a breakthrough. The United States and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire—a temporary pause that gave diplomacy a chance. It wasn’t a permanent solution, but it was enough to spark hope. To build on that momentum, high-level talks were arranged in Pakistan. Acting as a mediator, Pakistan hosted what many believed could be a turning point in one of the wor...
